The International Baccalaureate (IB) Program, acclaimed
internationally, was introduced at Holy
Trinity Academy during the Fall of 1998. The program
is designed for those students who are capable of a rigorous
and enriched academic program. We are pleased, as Holy
Trinity Academy is the first rural school in Alberta to
be accredited with this prestigious program.
The IB program is aimed at educating the "whole child".
This program not only prepares the students academically,
but also prepares them socially and emotionally to be
true leaders in society.
The program
allows high school students to take some or all of the
IB courses. A full IB diploma guarantees students access
to most universities throughout the world. In addition,
grade 12 IB courses are accepted for credit at many universities
including: the University of Calgary, the University of
Alberta, and the University of Lethbridge. The full diploma
program consists of English, French, Mathematics, Biology,
History and Physics. In addition to these six subjects,
students in the full diploma program are also expected
to take a course in the Theory of Knowledge, and they
are also expected to complete a 4,000 word essay and do
a specific number of community service hours.
